Wildlife filmmaker, photographer and writer

I am a Bristol (UK) based wildlife film-maker of more than 25 years experience. On this site you can find my biography and the films I have made, along with a few clips of recent work. There is also a brief outline of my book, Paradise Found (and of course a link to buy a copy!) As time permits I'll also add a section on current projects, both writing and films, in production.

There are also galleries of some of my stills photographs. Although shooting films (or these days a confusing host of digital file formats) is my day job, which I love, I find the personal freedom of shooting natural history stills deeply refreshing for the soul. Just me, my camera and an excuse to spend the whole day sitting in a forest or field.

My day job takes me all over the world, to some of the greatest places on our planet to shoot wildlife - both movies and stills - but my personal stills work allows me to focus on nature right under my nose. So stills photography is also my excuse to peer closely at the commonplace, beautiful weeds and elegant pests as well as local wildflower meadows and ancient woodlands. The galleries reflect this mixture and I hope they give you pause to look again at even the most mundane subject, and to realise that nothing in nature should be taken for granted.
